Dr. Elisa Sumakeris is a native of San Francisco California, although she spent most of her childhood in North Carolina. She attended NC State University for her undergraduate work, obtaining a BS in Zoology in 1989. She then obtained her Masters Degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1993. She attended the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in the class of 1997. She has worked at Grace Park Animal Hospital since it opened in November 2008.

Dr. Elisa has 3 grown children, Kathryn, Jay, and Lucas. She shares her life in Cary with her Standard Poodle, Aelin, with whom she competes in Agility, Rally, Obedience, Lure Coursing, and Barn Hunt. When Dr. Elisa is not training or competing with Aelin, she enjoys hiking, working on her daughter Kathryn’s farm, and tending the family’s large organic vegetable garden. At the practice, she particularly enjoys internal medicine, pathology, and pet behavior.
