Meet Jeremy!
Jeremy came into Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue’s program in February of this year. His first family was in the Military and they were unable to take him when they had to move. Jeremy was rehomed, but unfortunately, his new family could not provide consistent care for him. He hadn’t seen a vet or been given any preventions for several years and was surrendered to Neuse River.
When he entered the Neuse River program, Jeremy was aging and overweight with joint and mobility issues. He also had a large growth on his chest. Despite his many medical issues, Jeremy has remained incredibly sweet and happy and just loves being around people. After just few days in his foster home with the use of a Helper Harness, he was up and moving around better. Then he faced his next hurdle, the large mass on his chest ruptured, requiring surgery at Grace Park. The healing process from this surgery was long and difficult for Jeremy. He had an infection that required several different antibiotics to treat, but through it all, he remained a happy boy who loves his foster siblings and parents.
On a pretty day, Jeremy’s favorite place to be is outside on his foster’s back porch, hanging with the other dogs. He loves relaxing on his comfortable orthopedic bed and when he’s feeling good, he will get up by himself and move around on his own. Otherwise, his foster family helps him move around with his Helper Harness. He also recently got set up with his very own wheelchair so he can move freely about the back yard! Check him out in the video below!
