Exercise for the Mind

Want to tire your pet out? Give them a challenge! Puzzles will tucker your pet out just as much, if not more, than exercise alone! Here are a few of our favorite puzzlers for your pet:

  • Kongs are great for keeping dogs busy – buy several, stuff with canned food, and freeze!
  • The Kong Extreme is great for those power chewers!
  • Sniffing and searching for kibble or treats is great mental exercise, and very relaxing for dogs, which is why we love this Snuffle Mat!
  • Problem solving wears out dog’s minds and helps them relax. We like this Puppy Hide N’ Slide by Outward Hound, which comes in different colors. Look for puzzles that do not have removable parts, as they may pose choking hazards.
  • Check out this Level 1 Interactive Puzzle Dog Toy – use this as a slow feeder for dogs that eat too fast.
  • This Level 3 Interactive Puzzle Dog Toy is great for experienced puzzle solvers! No removable pieces to lose or be chewed!
  • This Level 4 Interactive Puzzle Dog Toy is for the smartest of them all.  No removable pieces to lose or be chewed!
  • Challenge and treat your cat! Let them seek out their food in this Treat Maze.

Exercise for the Body

Keep your pet moving with some of our favorite toys!

  • Jump, pounce, play! Here is a nice set of cat toys to encourage active play for your feline friend.
  • This Flirt Pole is an easy way to exercise puppies.  Your pup will love it when you make this toy hop and jump like a squirrel!
  • The Romp-n-Roll Ball is a great toy – it’s easy to toss for a game of fetch, and the ball protects your hands for a game of tug.  This is a DayCamper favorite at Grace Park!
  • The Nerf Vortex Chain Tug Toy is great for tugging!  The braided texture makes it easy for your dog to grab, it is flexible and whippy to build excitement, and the long length and the ball on the end help protect your hands from accidental bites.
  • The Chuck-it Pro is an easy way to play fetch with your friend, without having to touch a saliva-covered ball.
  • Chuck-it Balls are great for fetch, they are durable and don’t abrade the teeth like tennis balls do – the perfect complement to the Chuck-It Pro!
  • The Chuck-It Fetch Toy is a great ball for playing “soccer” with your dog in the yard or on the beach.  It comes in two different sizes, is big enough to kick, but has bite zones for your dog to pick it up.  Bonus – it glows in the dark for evening play!
  • The TUFFY Ultimate Ring Squeaker is a great toy for the water – throws easily, high visibility, floats well, soft on teeth, and machine washable.
  • The TUFFY Ocean Squid is a great toy for puppies – hold the head to keep your hands safe from those sharp puppy teeth, and dangle the legs to entice the puppies to chase and bite it.
  • The large Jolly Pets Jolly Egg is a Day Camper favorite here at Grace Park – great fun and exercise for your dog!
  • The smaller 8″ version of Jolly Pets Jolly Egg is tons of fun for your dog!

Fun for You

Wonder what your pet is up to all day? Worried they might be bored or getting into trouble? These pet cameras are a great way to keep tabs on your pets while you’re away from the house. Easily check it, talk to them, and even toss some treats!

Books on Training

Need some tips on training? Check out these books:

  • Control Unleashed is a great book for dogs that are easily distracted, excitable, or unfocused.  This is a particularly useful book for people who want to do sports (agility, nosework, obedience) with their dogs.
  • Social, Civil, and Savvy is a great primer for raising friendly, well balanced puppies.
  • Fired Up, Frantic, and Freaked Out is a great book on how to tackle dogs that are reactive (barking, growling, lunging) at the door, on walks, etc.
  • Ever wonder how circus cats are trained?  Using a clicker and a target stick! How to Clicker Train Your Cat is a great book to learn how to exercise your feline friend’s mind to reduce boredom and destructive behaviors.

Books on Grieving

  • The Fall of Freddy the Leaf is a good book for helping children understand the great cycle of life.
