Today is National Dress Up Your Pet Day and I’m so excited! I mean, I get dressed every day, but I usually just go for my all purpose scarf – a cozy, knit, infinity scarf, which keeps my neck nice and warm.
Somedays I like to kick it up a notch, either because it’s cold outside or I just want to feel fancy.
I’m a big guy, so finding clothes suited for me isn’t always the easiest – I have yet to find the Big & Tall department for dogs.
My mom found a jacket and a sweater for me – they were both XXXL.
Yet neither of them fit.
People passing me on the street always say I’m big enough to be a horse, soooo…
The last jacket my mom bought for me was actually a miniature horse jacket from Dover Saddlery! They have some nice fleece dog jackets that fit my brother and sister, but horse garb is what I get.
My horse jacket is great for really cold, snowy days, but I needed some everyday wear!
Tired of seeking out clothes that would fit me, my mom took matters into her own hands, literally! She decided to start sewing my clothes and even learned to knit, just for me! Here are a few of the outfits she put together for me…
Whether your pet gets dressed up every day or not, today is National Dress Up Your Pet, so grab something fancy or warm or every-day casual and dress up your pet! We hope you’ll share some of your outfits with us on social media!
Just remember, clothes aren’t for every pet – lucky for us 4-legged guys, they’re not required! Listen to your pet, if they’re nervous or uncomfortable getting dressed, don’t force them. Be sure to always monitor your pet while dressed up and make sure that whatever they’re wearing fits comfortably and doesn’t obstruct their sight or movement.
